Psalm 2:8: "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession."
Recently, a worldwide prayer meeting was held to specifically request God's blessing on Africa and its role in the kingdom of God. Prayer focused on peoples, nations, national leaders, doors of opportunity, and the challenges of mission efforts on the continent.

It also included prayers against strongholds of the evil one, barriers to the gospel, people who are persecuted or imprisoned for their faith, and for plans for new or special outreach projects. Because African Christians are beginning to impact the world significantly, prayers were offered that God would empower them for ministry and missions worldwide.
Groups met in numerous locations, stateside and overseas. In conjunction with prayers, a 24-hour fast was included. At the end of the prayer session, groups were encouraged to break the fast with a fellowship meal.
Participants from 14 nations took part, many of whom sent in specific prayer requests for the work in which they were involved. These requests were organized and posted on a web site. Paul Mator Manyok, a Sudanese student at Lipscomb University, and Mark Jent, on the missions staff there, set up a round-the-clock program of prayer among Lipscomb students. Paul and the students called in by cell phone to Pray Africa central in Fort Worth, TX for a few minutes every hour for 17 hours.
At times as many as four phones were connected with all parties offering prayers for Africa, encouraging and holding each other accountable to be faithful in prayer throughout the night.
Here are some of the comments that were received:
"Thanks for thinking about us in Africa and for knowing that we have an Almighty and caring creator. The prayers of saints across the world will not go in vain. We will certainly join you in the worthy cause of fasting and prayer." Zimbabwe
"By God's grace we just established a new congregation in a village about 100 kilometers away from the capital. The people have accepted Christ but are finding difficult to do away with practices of idolatry. Please, I wish this becomes part of your prayer list. We have a small prayer group here. We meet every Monday. We fast every last Friday of every month. Remember us in your prayer too." Senegal
"I continue to be encouraged in what you are doing in the kingdom of Christ. God bless you. It is time for the Church to raise its voices to the almighty God for his intervention to help the Church spread throughout the continent of Africa and beyond. What a wonderful timing and a call for prayers and fasting in behalf of Africa." Ethiopia
May we, with God’s help, become a people committed to prayer and fasting for the redemption of the nations.
