Missionaries are ordinary people who have caught God's vision for the
world. The challenges of their extraordinary task expose them to
unusual dangers in a culture not their own.
Perhaps you have answered God's call to be a missionary and, if so,
many exciting experiences await you. But you are still human and may
need some help along the way in weathering some of the challenges.

Before
You Go
While
You Are on the Field
When You
Come Home
More than a few missionaries have fallen on
the field of battle. Some
have suffered from burnout and depression; most have had periods of
extreme loneliness and feelings of abandonment. Our staff of caring
people, led by Dottie
Schulz, Ph.D.,
who serves as our Director for Missionary Care, can help you and your
family overcome some of these painful incidents. Dr. Schulz has an
excellent Staff
and Advisory
Panel assisting her.
If
you are not a missionary, perhaps you are a Christian who is concerned
about the welfare of missionaries your church has sent to the field.
You know that some missionaries have been wounded by "friendly fire"
when sponsoring churches lacked sensitivity and you don»t want your
church to be responsible for that kind of tragedy. Or maybe you are a
member of a missionary»s extended family. Your missionaries are dear to
your heart because they are also bone of your bone and flesh of your
flesh. We at Missions Resource Network will stand alongside you so you
can be assured that your missionaries receive the best possible care.
See, Dottie's blog, Missionary's
Missionary, for more personal insight into the world of
missionary care.
Services to Churches
Dr.
Schulz provides numerous workshops and consultations for elders and
missions committees nationwide. Topics include general missionary care
principles, reentry needs, writing of missionary care policies and
client-specific assistance.
Some of these services are provided through
regional Stewards of the Mission workshops conducted by Missions Resource Network in selected centers,
such as Dallas, Nashville, Little Rock and Oklahoma City.
