Day 1

Good morning, friend, and welcome to our Prayer Challenge!

Throughout the next couple of weeks, you’ll receive daily emails that will help you know how to pray for unreached Hindus throughout the region of the Bay of Bengal, focusing primarily on India this year. Some days are calls to intercede on behalf of individuals or small groups or organizations, while others on behalf of entire nations. We’ll be led in prayer online one morning by a disciple maker from a Hindu background (mark your calendar for Monday, 28 October, at 8AM CST!!!). We’ll even get to enjoy one of my favorites – a Map Day!

I have found that, the more I know about people I’m praying for, the more I am drawn to intercede for them. Diwali is a bit of a mystery to most of us who have grown up with a Christian heritage; here is a simple video from a Hindu perspective on why and how they celebrate Diwali.

As a part of MRN’s Bengal Initiative, we have chosen to invite Christians around the world to pray daily throughout the festival of Diwali. Named for the rows of lamps that are traditionally lit during this festival of light, Diwali is both a major religious and cultural event. It is a season when Hindus are more spiritually attuned than usual; as followers of Jesus, we take this season to beg the Father to call His children in Hinduism to see His light breaking through their darkness. Ask that the Father would shine the light of His truth so brightly throughout the Hindu world these weeks that it would outshine the light of a thousand lamps.

Peace, friend, and thank you for praying with me.
