Day 13
Yesterday, friend, we prayed that as Hindu families gather over lavish meals on the last day of Diwali, somehow God would move to bring whole Hindu families into relationship with Him.
Today is Sunday. It’s the day of the week when followers of Jesus gather as family – some earthly, most of us spiritual. Among other things, we’ll share a meal. A rather spartan bit of cracker and juice, it’s hardly lavish in a physical sense. In a spiritual one, though, it is the richest of meals as we commune with our Lord and brother and all the rest of our family in a shared meal that anticipates an eternal wedding feast.
If you are part of a church taking the Lord’s Supper today, as you eat and drink allow your heart to be moved to pray for Hindu-background believers, those who have recently left their family’s religion and come into the Family of Jesus. Pray that they would find the family of God to be a hospitable, celebratory community where they are deeply known and loved. Pray also that they would be kind and holy in how they live and creative in how they speak that they might be a part of introducing their earthly families to the sweetness of belonging to the worldwide family of Jesus followers.
It's good to be in the family.
